Dear Family and Friends,

O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captives……I (Carleene) just finished the study, When War Comes Home, starting with 17 military wives and finishing with about 5 coming to class weekly.   What Happened?  9,000 soldiers returned from downrange, including those wives’ husbands.  The battle within accelerates as these heroes work at reintegrating into the ‘new normal’.  Tears, prayers, spiritual tools and encouragement are what the wives rely on when they desperately want their husbands to heal.  We, in this larger group, are battle buddies, encouraging one another by text, Facebook, private messages, meeting for prayer, and standing firm knowing the enemy of their souls wants to steal, kill and destroy whatever they have.   Yes, there is hope, and a deep reliance on the Author of Hope, Jesus Christ, and for this we are thankful.

We stand amazed at our Gracious Heavenly Father as each week brings multiple opportunities to speak through prayer breakfasts for soldiers, (Steve) workshops, and retreats. We remain humbled and thrilled at the open doors to fulfill the call the Lord has brought us.  We have worked in each of our strategy goals in the last 10 months:

  • Ministering to and through Chaplains:  We remain connected closely to chaplains and their families, working alongside to bring the message of Jesus Christ and His transforming power.
  • Building Resilience in Warriors and Leaders:  We are building a team of volunteers who want to join us where God is calling them to work with us.
  • Equipping Military Marriages to go the distance and make an impact:  We facilitated a Family Life Bible study, called the Art of Marriage; and we will begin the series Love and Respect in January.  We helped leaders in our area start 4 neighborhood Bible studies on the topic of God’s design for marriage.
  • Igniting Hope and Building Resilience for Military Wives:  We provide monthly training for a mentoring program that is in the beginning stages, and will be used for couples and individuals.
  • Help to Restore Military Warriors and their families:  A couple we trained, presented a workshop, Bridges to Healing, at their church in Fayetteville, teaching lay counselors about combat stress and how to speak and pray with soldiers coming home from downrange.

We made a commitment not to accept funds for any speaking engagements we conduct; we rely fully on God’s provision through donor support.  We need your help, both by prayer and becoming a partner to support us financially as God continues to bless us with open doors for growth in His Kingdom.  Will you consider an end of year gift, or become a monthly partner?  For your convenience, there are two ways to donate to The Military Heart.

  1. Go to the website:, select Donate, and see that you can donate on the secure site, by credit card or by automatic bank deduction.
  2. Or, you can send your tax-deductible donation by mail to:            The Military Heart, PO Box 72909, Ft. Bragg, NC 28307

In all these things, we give thanks to God for you,

Steve and Carleene
